Code of Arms

Hi kids! Lee Presson here, former guildmaster of Saint Blaise North. I just remembered something I wanted to share with you.

The criers guild as I ran it (1990-1998) was a respite from the sex and booze jokes that saturate fair. We were dedicated to chaos and non-sequiturs, so much so that we had our own latin motto: CIVITAS VACUUS PROVIDENTIA.

It means "citizenry without prudence."

Damn, I think I even made up an vector graphics coat of arms, something like 12 years ago. It has crossed bells over an Rampant squirrel.

If it exists, it's probably on a 3.5 inch floppy embedded in fossilized limestone.

Heya Lee - Kitty here. Current guildmaster. Are you trying to spoil all our fun? 10 year old boys are supposed to repeat dirty jokes that they've heard, especially when they don't really understand them. That's the funny part. Not the joke, but the retelling. Last year, I had one of my young lads tell me a joke about ducks blowing bubbles in the lake. I'll save you the details, but suffice it to say that I busted out laughing and he thought it was because he was successful in getting away with telling it to an adult. Little did he know that several of us (including his father) would have another chuckle about it later that day over a nice cool tasty beverage.

So when are you going to come visit Casa anyway?

I think he meant that it was to be a different guild than the Southern Criers guild, which is known for its prodigious drinking and general sexual obnoxiousness.

Jokes about ducks blowing bubbles? Sure.

The joke about "How do you get a nun pregnant?" Over the line. (And if you don't know the punchline to this, email me, and I'll tell you.)

Not to threadjack, but WHAT southern Crier's guild? I went down to Southern to play for a day and all I saw was a few rag-tag people each with a piece of yellow cloth over their shoulder, each with a different idea of how they should walk in the parade, and each with an entirely different rhythm to ring the bell, to the point of cacophony. That wasn't as guild, that was just a few people faking it. Was it good once upon a time?
